OUR SPONSORSHIP OF SOMERSHAM DUKES FOOTBALL TEAM
Did you know that 44.7% of 11 to 15 year olds play football monthly?
So, when Paul and I heard how Somersham Dukes U12s football team, which is coached by our friend Stephen, were looking for an away kit, we jumped on the opportunity to provide one.
In the world of football, a team kit is so much more than just a kit, it represents unity, belonging and has the power to inspire a whole team. After having to wear bibs at every away game, the players were feeling a bit defeated and wanted to wear something that they could be proud of, providing them with the confidence to go onto the pitch believing in themselves.
Simply must really be a lucky charm because since wearing their new kit, the team have not lost a game.
Myself and Paul have been a huge supporter of all the youth work that our friend Stephen has done through the organisation he works for, Volunteering Matters, and we were super impressed to learn about his different coaching style and passion for providing the children with skills for life. The team was at risk of folding when Stephen joined the club, however he has taken the focus away from the weekly results and instead taught them the importance of communication and teamwork, allowing them to build an inclusive environment. The kit had not been changed for years and so for many within the community, the adjustment was a very important moment within the club’s history, and we are proud to have been part of that.
Since receiving the new kit, Stephen told us that the children have grown in confidence, sticking their chests out in pride, which is just amazing. Some of them have even started wearing it as leisurewear so if you are out and about in Ipswich, see if you can spot our logo on the streets.
Helping the local community is so important to us, our team, and the business. Whether it is sponsoring the local football team, volunteering at Sarah’s Garden, or giving back to charity, we are passionate about making a difference.
